Childrens Cowboy Party Games

January 28, 2009

Cowboy Party Games

Planning a Cowboy Party can be lots of fun for boys and girls of all ages. When purchasing the plates, table covers, and other themed decorations and accessories, also consider the games and activities that you will plan to entertain the guests.

We offer a Cowboy Party Game that is both inexpensive and fun! Like the traditional Pin the Tail on the Donkey game, this Cowboy Party Game requires that participants wear blindfolds while trying to place a badge on the cowboy. The child whose badge is closest to the designated spot wins!

Lasso the Balloon

Blow up balloons and place throughout the room. Give each child a long ribbon or some yarn that has been tied into a loop and ask them to attempt to "corral" balloons into large plastic bags. The child with the most balloons in his or her bag is the winner.

Cowboy Wanted Posters

Give each child a Cowboy Wanted Poster. Making certain that plenty of cups are available filled with art supplies and allow children to draw pictures of themselves in the wanted poster. If time permits, also consider taking digital photographs of each child. Print off these pictures and give the children the option of using the photo in place of their original drawing.

Cowboy Cup Stampede

A game that works best for large numbers of party guests, have the children break into two teams. Working together, have the children stand in a line with a stack of Cowboy Cups at one end. The first child in the line must pick up one cup and pass it to the next child without using his or her hands. Children must pass the cups to each other in the same method. The team that goes through the entire stack of cups first wins.

All Hat and No Cattle

With enough Cowboy Top Hats for each child, on the inside of the hat of one of the guests paste a picture of a cow. Only the host should know the identity of the child with the cow picture. Have the children then ask yes or no questions in order to find out whose hat contains the cow. Children who guess incorrectly must sit out from further questioning and the child who guesses correctly wins. To discourage cheating, paste the image face down and place blank scraps of paper or alternate images (such as pigs and horses) in other hats - just make sure you remember which one has the cow!

Sheriff Badges

Pre-cut brown, gold, silver, grey, or yellow construction paper and various markers or crayons allow creative play for younger children. Use double-sided adhesive plaster to adhere the finish products to children's clothes.

In all cases, be sure to have prizes or favors at the ready for all children. If multiple games are planned, have multiple prizes available. A Cowboy Vest Costume and Cowboy Foil Balloons make for excellent grand prizes, while Cowboy Party Sticker Sheets and Cowboy Party Blowouts are wonderful choices for group or consolation prizes.
