10 Tips For a Great Football Party

The economy is sagging and your budget is being challenged, but some things in life call for a splurge! If your child’s birthday looms and he or she can’t get enough David Beckham, a football-themed party is your best bet. LatestGifts.co.uk has everything you need to plan a party that will be the envy of your child’s friends. Follow our tips, order supplies online and the job is done.

  1. Our football invitations set the theme. Send them to invitees and include a game starter: Ask each child to bring the name of a famous footballer to the party. When they arrive, put the names into a bowl and have children draw them for charades.

  2. Balloons do a terrific job of setting the party stage and we have every color of the rainbow. You’ll need a helium tank and enough balloons to create a bouquet for the center of the party table and one each for every guest.

  3. Choose enough football party favors for each guest. Place them into our gift bags, add candy treats, then tie or staple one balloon to each bag. Place the favors in front of each plate.

  4. Cool food gets the party in full swing. A trip to the supermarket is likely in order, fill some party bowls with snacks and finger food. A punch of juice and sparkling water is healthy and gives kids energy for the party games ahead.

  5. Play charades after lunch so the children are entertained while their meal digests. Ideal prizes for the game are our referee whistles! Award a whistle to each of the children at the party and be sure to have extras for the ones that are sure to get lost.

  6. Delight kids with a round of football piñata. We have everything you need to get the game going. Have chaperones on hand to make sure the piñata stick is focused on the hanging football! Once this classic Mexican game is over, organize a football game for a final activity.

  7. Time to open presents. Appoint a note taker to record each gift and giver. Make a game of this important task by drawing a football outline on a big poster board. Ask each guest to name his or her favorite color. Use that color marker to record this information. Kids will be thrilled to see their names on the football and there’s no danger of losing a list this big!

  8. Time for cake! Let children choose from more juice and sparkling water punch or a glass of milk, then, rollout a football-shaped cake. Cake molds are easily available if you do it yourself, or commission a bakery to do the job. Most football cakes are adequate for small crowds, but if you’ve got a huge number of kids on hand, a football “field cake” works better. If you know your way around a pastry tube, use a photo of a football arena as a your guide.  Make sure there are enough to go around. Serve cake slices on our football plates.

  9. Time to bid exhausted guests goodbye while teaching your child the importance of being a good host(ess). Check to be certain everyone is leaving with all of their favors: balloon, gift bag, whistle, candy, favor, cake topper and whatever else you’ve ordered to make the day perfect. An added tip: Keep extra gift bags by the door to corral contents in bags that have been overstuffed.

  10. As soon as you and your child have time, sit down together to write thank you notes. They don’t have to be long. Thanking a guest for coming is part of the social training your child needs to be a success in today’s world.
