Cuddly Kitten Party Ideas

January 27, 2009

What is a kitten party?

A kitten party is a child's party celebrating your child's love of cuddly kittens, and what could be a better way to celebrate the enduring love between a child and their favourite animals? The Cuddly Kitten range is a popular party choice. For this very special day, you want to make sure the party is p-u-u-r-fect, so here are some tips to help you with your childrens kitten party planning ideas.

  • Invitations. Choose a kitten-themed invitation to immediately get the theme of your party in the minds of your child's guests. If your child can hand carry the invitations, it's a cute idea to attach a kitten-paw balloon, kitten bubbles, or a kitten notepad to the invitation, just as a little favour for the guests to enjoy until the party.

  • Decorations. Since the kitten theme offers up a whole host of decorating ideas, choose your favourite colour scheme, and then combine plates, napkins, cups, and utensils, all in the gentle kitten theme. Lavender and hot pink are great coordinating colors with our kitten-themed accessories, and we offer kitten garlands, centrepieces, danglers, and more to make the childrens kitten party as festive as can be. Create your own posters out of construction paper. Shape them like a fish, kitten head, or kitten paw, and write welcome messages for the children, like "No Puppies Allowed," "Kiss Your Kitten," and "Fish Rule!" and post them around the party area, to help set the mood.

  • Food. You can get extremely creative with food for your child's kitten party. Bake your child's favourite cookies, but cut them out with a small bone- or fish-shaped cookie cutter for instant "kitty treats." Don't forget the kitty birthday cake, the final treat for being such a "good kitty" all year. We even stock a special cuddly kitten candle. You could decorate the cake to look like a kitty face, or create cupcakes decorated with liquorice whiskers and gumdrops for sparkling kitty eyes. Oh, and what kitty could possibly resist a bowl of goldfish crackers?

  • If you actually have kittens don't forget about them around the house! While the youngsters are enjoying the party, make sure the kittens have a safe place to hide, just in case they're not used to all the commotion, and give them a special plate of their favourite treat or meat, just to let them know they're a special part of the party!

  • Games. Of course, we have the perfect kitty party ice-breaker. Our kitten game combines pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey with kitten precision, and it's a great way to put your guests at ease while they get to know each other. Next, create a kitty scavenger hunt. Hide some of your child's stuffed kittens and cats around the house and yard, create clues to send the kids hunting for them. Give them a little basket or bag to hold their collection and the one with the most stuffed animals at the end of the hunt wins a kitty prize, their own stuffed animal or game or puzzle. You could also have the children play "kitten, kitten, cat" (duck, duck, goose), and "Cat Got Your Tongue," where they have to name the next line of a favourite animal or kitten tune.

  • Gifts. There are some excellent favours and gifts for your guests available on our site, and themed gift bags to send them home, too. For birthday gifts, here's a great idea to get children thinking about homeless cats, while still having a great time. Ask them to bring a small can of cat food, cat treats, or even a kitten collar to the party, alongside or instead of a birthday gift for your child. Let them know these gifts will be donated to a local cat shelter, to make some cat's life a little brighter. It's a great way to make a difference, teach kids about the responsibilities of pet ownership, and still celebrate a fantastic kitten party!
