Puppy Party Planning Ideas

Planning a Puppy Party

If your child loves their stuffed or real puppies beyond imagination, then carry that love into a themed puppy party for your child's birthday. It's a wonderful way to share the bond between animals and their owners, and a great way to introduce children to the joys of pet ownership, while having a great time, too. Here are some childrens puppy party planning ideas to help you plan the perfect, tail-wagging puppy party!

  • Invitations. Browse our selection of puppy party invitations to help set the theme and the colour scheme of your party. If you're crafty, you could create simple dog collars out of felt, construction paper, or fabric, decorated with fake jewels, dog-themed charms, and the children's names. Attach them to the invitations and invite the children to wear the collars to the party.

  • Decorations. Keep your decorations in the puppy theme by using our banners, garlands, puppy centrepieces, and accessories to really set the doggie theme. We have everything you need from cups to serving plates and napkins, too. You could use chalk to draw puppy prints leading up the pavement to your home, and in the garden, cut out cardboard bones, hang them from tree branches, and let the kids decorate them with stickers and coloured markers any way they choose. Let the kids vote for the most creative bones, and the winner wins a small prize, like a bracelet or stuffed puppy toy.

  • Food. You can get really creative with the food for your childrens puppy party. Fill up some of our cello bags with a mixture of goodies so every child has a "doggie bag" of their own. For the cake, you can bake a sheet cake and shape it into the shape of a bone, or bake a square, layer cake and frost it to resemble a doghouse. Why not add our puppy cake candle decorations for extra theming?

  • If you have dogs in the house, and they love people, let them mingle and play with the party guests, especially if you're holding your party in the garden. If they're not so social, make sure they have a safe place to stay during the party, and don't forget to give them a toy and a special treat to make them feel special too during the party!

  • Games. We have the perfect pin-the-nose-on-the-puppy game to start the festivities, but there are plenty of other puppy games you can play, too. If you're outdoors, hang a puppy piņata and let the children compete to break it open. You could play puppy hopscotch with each square decorated with the face of a puppy. Play puppy Simon Says with a "pack leader" calling out items like "puppy sit," "puppy stay," and "puppy scratch your ear." Print out puppy colouring pages and let the children colour them with markers and crayons. The best one wins a "best of show" blue ribbon. Let the children make up their favourite strange new dog breeds, and post the list somewhere prominent in the party. Let the children vote with puppy stickers on their favourite new name. (You can start the list off with some ideas like "Labradoodle" and "min-pin" (and even let them know those are real doggie names!)

  • Gifts. Make sure you have a "doggie bag" of party favours for each puppy party guest to take home with them. Use one of our gift bags, and some of our favours and gifts to make sure this puppy party is a memory they'll treasure for a long time to come!
